Hedgeville

Filed under: Uncategorized —— deade @ 12:39 pm

Headgeville is a fictional town for hedgehogs. It was made by all our class, Mr.Eade actually came up with the idea. Hedgeville is not actually for real hegdehogs, it is just a project where  many  hedgehogs  walk, run, sleep and play.  There is KFS (that means Kentucky Fried Slugs) where these spikey dudes  grab a quick bite. There is a huge, tall  Eiffel Tower from France, where these animals go on  romantic dates. Also, there is a beautiful, sparkling waterfall,a river, a music shop where the dudes get there funky music ,a library where the nerds study, a slug dinner where the fancy ones eat there goody, goody delicious food and a bird plane where the hedgehogs fly to there holidays  like hawaii . There is also a guest house in a old enchanted tree  so they can hog a room for hibernation. We made the hedgehogs and the buildings in art class. It was a fun project but a lot of work.

Mount Everest is standing on the border of Tibet and Nepal.  The mountain is really  high. The higher you get the oxygen  gets tinner. The first  people to climb Mount Everest were Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal.  They met Snow storms and chasms on the way to the top. On the 29thof may hillary and tenzing  awoke to see calm wind and sunny weather. Later that morning they becamethe first 2 people to climb the highest mountain in the world! !

The Lyre Bird

Filed under: Uncategorized —— deade @ 12:53 pm

When ever the Lyre bird hears a noise it always copies or mimics  the exact noise  it heard.  Like the camera clicking and the birds singing.  David Attenborough found it in the Australian Rainforest by the noise it was making.  It is a magnificent bird and it is very popular.  This bird can copy any sound it hears.  It is a a very clever bird.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. EadeSome interesting Facts about the Rainforests:

  • The rainforest is divided into four strata of layers: the emergents, the canopy, the understory  and the  forest floor.
  • Most of the rainforests are found near Equater. There are tropical rainforestsin South America, Australia and Asia. Tropical rainforests cover about six per cent of the Earth’s surface.
  •  Here we  find birds like the toucan and the cuckoo, mammals like the howler monkey, the sloth and bats, and reptiles like the anaconda, boas and lizards.
  • The blue mopho butterfly is one of the largest and most beautiful butterflies in the world.
  • Forest in Danger : trees the size of a football pitch are cut down every second.

bottlenose-dolphin-picture-2-480Here are the facts we learnt about the bottlenose dolphin:

dolphins-oil-spill

  • It gets its name from the shape of its jaws which looks like a bottle.
  • They have an excellent sense of  taste but no sense of smell.
  • Adults range is from 2-4 metres in lenght and weight between 200 to 300 kg.
  • They usually swim at the speed of 5-11 km/h but they can reach speeds of 35 km/h.
  • They are very good navigators and rarely get lost or disorientated.
  • Injured divers have often been rescued by them.

The bottlenose dolphin is a very intresting animal and we would love to see one off the coast of Clare.
